Funny that they’re calling this a “Tea Party,” because noise shows and “music” is not just anyone’s cup of tea. You either dig it, or you don’t. But if you do, this is where you want to be. William Herd has been quietly putting on these noise shows at f/stop Fitzgerald’s on Wednesdays for the last couple of months. In fact, he told me it is officially a monthly thing there now. He told me there are two main types of noise music: music with elements of any genre played differently, most often jazz instrumentation; and some, “play harsh noise of color as in white or pink noise like you’d hear if you had a radio on a channel without a station.” I asked him what flavor would be happening this night at The Space “Harsh noise show with power electronics, harsh vocals; ambient soundscapes; radio and sound snippets.” The lineup:
Morgan Garrett and Nicotine Mantis from Los Angeles, Total Septum all the way from New Orleans, Mini Mutations featuring Austin Rich, Hoodie Battle from Eugene, and William Herd. This is a free show. All ages until 9:55pm.
