Brandon Hill of Salem’s Night Lizard is bring some pop and post-punk, electronic darkwave to Salem, from Portland and Vancouver BC. That’s in Canada. Wire Spine and Dream Cars are both from Vancouver. “Wire Spine was formed in 2015 by Robert Katerwol of Weird Candle, and Jesi Tekahionwake. After tours in Europe and western United States and a memorable performance at last year’s Terminus Festival,  the project signed to Negative Gain for their first label release.”  Looks like they’re slated to play SXSW this month in Austin. Aren’t we lucky we get to see them bring their darkness to The Fifty for free!? Yes. Dream Cars reminds me of early Cure with a dash of Interpol and maybe Bauhaus for good measure. They’re touring with Portland’s post-punk Shadowhouse, who has played Salem at Brandon’s behest before. Night Lizard knows how to put on a party. This promises to be a sweaty trance n dance kind of thing. Load up on carbs.
