Mark Hosler, Don Haugen & Mini-Mutations w/ Richie Daggers Crime

October 21 @ 7:00 pm - 10:30 pm

Free

The Space Concert Club is proud to present a unique performance by some of the hardest working artists in the field. Join us for an all ages presentation with none other than experimental music legend Mark Hosler, in Oregon for the first time for quite some time. This show is a unique opportunity to see this member of Negativland get down in our own backyard, and we are excited to have him in Salem.

Line-Up

Mark Hosler
To read through Mark’s CV would be absurd at this point. Having founded Negativland in the late ’70’s, his work in the studio, on radio, and at live shows has influenced a generation of audio collage artists who are now responsible for the now-lackadaisical approach to sampling that dance and electronic artists have toward the pastime. However, Mark’s solo work is a far cry from the collaborative albums he’s made with his group, instead focusing on improvisation to create incredible soundscapes and thrilling cut-and-paste jams. This is a rare performance by a singular artist, and is not to be missed.

Don Haugen
A stalwart of the Eugene Experimental scene, Don Haugen has been working in music for over 30 years, carving out a space for himself that is wholly unique and incredibly powerful. His heavy-ambient drones are compelling and breathtaking, but his focus and playfulness makes his performances something fun and engaging. This is Don’s second time at The Space, and we are exciting to see the kind of performance he will bring this time.

Mini-Mutations
Born out of radio improvisations and collages, Mini-Mutations is the brainchild of Austin Rich, now in his 25th year making zines, radio, and music. Entirely informed by Negativland’s collage style and sense of humor, Mini-Mutations brings a more ambient flavor to the form, letting dreamy samples and improvisations develop into long-form audio essays that are political, thought provoking, or merely abstract.

DJ Main Man (Joshua Blanchard)
A mainstay of the Salem nightclub scene, DJ Main Man will bring beats and post-punk tunes to the floor, keeping the night pulsing onward and upward.

This will be a great night to experience something new, and we urge you to come and enjoy this special offering. Do not miss it.
