Oregon Trail Live game rolls into Salem for 7th year September 8thsees the return of Willamette Heritage Center’s popular Oregon Trail Live event with challenges for all ages, crafts, food & drink – and more.

In its seventh year, the fun live-action game has teams of 2 – 5 members compete in ten challenges that recreate a little of what life on the Oregon Trail was like.

With the goal of making history accessible, memorable, and fun for all ages., Oregon Trail Live brings together friends, family, and co-workers with team-building activities and challenges.

As a bonus, participants learn interesting things about the history of the Oregon Trail.

“We have some great entertainment lined up,” says Liz McIntire of Willamette Heritage Center, “this year we have music from the Orchard Mountain String Band and the New Oregon History Minstrels.”

The coveted cowbell awards will be presented to the teams that have the highest score, those who show the greatest brawn, the team full of the most enthusiasm, and who can build the most attractive homestead. Challenges will include caulking wagons to ford the river, hunting for game, a three-legged dysentery race, and more. This year, the Fort Yamhill Garrisons will also bring in a surprise challenge.

Drinks and food will be available at Miss Milly’s Saloon & Arm Wrestling Emporium and Krewe du Soul. Other concessions and goods will be available at the Mercantile.

During it all, thematic live musical entertainment will provide atmosphere and harken participants back to pioneer days.
