Mark Lemhouse & The Sublimites, Jesus Chrysler and The Holy Smokes. Saturday, July 23rd @ 9pm

To be perfectly honest, I couldn’t find much on any of these bands. Maybe I didn’t try hard enough. I picked this show based purely on the names of the bands and I do know that Mark Lemhouse has been around these parts for quite some time. He’s good for it. You want some straight up in your face rock and roll and some kick ass pizza? Go to this show. Free. Shotskis Woodfired Pizza – 1230 State St, Salem –...

But you’re loving it. Everyone is. Also on the bill is Salem indie pop sweeties Summer Eyes. Ben Thede is the main mind behind...

RiverCity RockFest – Sunday July 10th

RiverCity Rock Academy is Salem’s version of Rock School. The performers range in age from 6 to adult. I got to see a couple of the performances at Make Music Day Salem and it is very cool. They play covers, that’s how they teach them to be rock performers, but they aren’t your run of the mill covers. I saw the Rockers (age 12 -18) perform songs by Black Flag and Bikini Kill. Yeah, no Freebird here. Another sweet aspect is it will be an outdoor concert at the Riverfront Amphitheater. I was recently wondering why that wasn’t used...
