To be honest, what caught my eye about this show was the name, “son of the velvet rat.” Kinda stands out and I’m glad it did because it’s beautiful. It is a husband and wife duo, Georg Altziebler and Heike Binder from Austria. In fact in Austria, Altziebler was bestowed the honor “best Austrian singer-songwriter ever” by two major newspapers there (got that from Wiki.) So, odd name, husband/wife duo, from Austria – I’m intrigued. Their music is haunting and sparse, but eerily beautiful (I got that from my own ears.) When I listened to it, I felt things. I imagined being in a low lit bar, saying goodbye to a lover, slow dancing just one more time. Kind of a Dead Moon vibe, in a way. They’re critically acclaimed and their recordings are beautifully mixed and produced. And you know what? They’re going to be in Salem. Donations for the bands encouraged.
