Sunday, May 29th at 2pm ‘til close at Mac’s Place in Silverton: John Pounds Fundraiser Day! Recovering from a stroke takes time and unfortunately a grip of cash. John’s friends are true blue and continue to have these fundraisers to aid in his recovery. It really is absolutely moving. This one will have a 50/50 raffle and a portion of the daily sales will be donated to John. Syco Billy’s will be playing from 5-6pm but there will be music starting at 2pm until closing. So far they have Meziere & Ivie Band, The Flextones, Renee Hill Band NW Women in R&B, Jim Mesi, Lloyd Jones, Robbie Laws, Doug Rowell, Bill Rhodes and more.
Friday, June 3rd at 5pm at Victory Club: Grand Opening with Carlos Barata and Pending Black. This is going to be a fun party. There’s already a ton of people who have RSVP’d on Facebook. I really love the spot and you’ll love it too. Carlos Barata is an acoustic singer/songwriter from Pennsylvania. Pending Black are locals Myra and Gabe Gleason. I have not seen them yet but I’ve watched their videos and I can say that they are very original in the Salem scene. Soulful R&B mixed with acoustic guitar and beatboxing! I know! It’s crazy but it works and works well. And if Grand Openings and/or live music doesn’t grab you, maybe 35 taps of local beer will. Yeah, there you go. See you there.
Saturday, June 4th at 9pm at Shotskis Woodfired Pizza: Bowie – A Tribute. From the Facebook event page: A tribute to one of the greatests artists and performers of all time: David Bowie. Featuring Salem’s finest: David Fox, Elvicious Cash, Andrew Hussey, Ronan Baker, Charles Normal, Kristin Blix, Jarred Venti, Jason Carter, Nathan Olsen and Jesse Ruggles. I notice there’s not a ton of shows this night, probably because the bulk of Salem’s musicians are participating in this tribute. Space is limited, get your $10 tickets at
www.SalemBowieTribute.com. For more info, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
