UPCYCLE OREGON Upcycle Oregon is a celebration promoting creative reuse through art, fashion and hands-on learning experiences. It features a marketplace with products made from reused materials, an art and innovations exhibition, and a Trashion Fashion Show, in addition to educational exhibits and hands-on learning opportunities about consumption alternatives, waste reduction, and sustainable practices. Upcycle Oregon aims to raise awareness about waste reduction and reuse by highlighting Oregon artists and innovators, providing waste reduction education, and encouraging the reuse of a variety of materials in new, different and creative forms. The marketplace is a new addition. From pallet furniture and repurposed glassware to jewelry and clothing, the marketplace highlights Oregon makers and products all made with reused materials. It also allows people the opportunity to actively support the concept of upcycling and reuse. The Trashion Fashion show highlights clothing made from cast-offs, recyclables and reused materials, featuring upcycled fashion that you would feel comfortable wearing and incorporating into your daily, active life, as well as outrageous, outlandish and over-the-top fashions that feature a strong narrative. The show will start at 3 p.m. followed by a meet-and-greet with the designers. http://www.upcycleoregon.com/ 10 am-5 pm Free. Salem Convention Center.
