BEHIND ENEMY LINES: THE TRUE STORY OF A FRENCH JEWISH SPY IN NAZI GERMANY

Marthe Cohen, an heroic World War II spy for the Allies, will be speaking in Salem June 9th at Willamette University. This is an event for people of all ages, a way to teach tolerance with Marthe Cohen’s true story. Following the talk, “Behind Enemy Lines”, the book Marthe Cohen authored, will be available for purchase at a booksigning. FAIRY TALES FAMILY FUN DAY AT DEEPWOOD ESTATE

Did you know that Deepwood was named by Alice Brown in 1935 after her sons’ favorite children’s book? During Family Fun Day, Deepwood celebrates the world of fairy tales! Each garden will be themed to a specific children’s book featuring games, activities and hands-on crafts. Costumes are welcome. Your $3 Recommended Donation supports the non-profit organization, Friends of Deepwood, and goes towards their continued programs and events for the Salem-area community. Registration is required! SILVERTON HILLS STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL

Since 1951, Silverton area folks have been enjoying this local tradition. And this year, the Strawberries, while supplies last, are FREE! As a special thank you for almost 100 years of support, Silverton Health is picking up the entire tab! Kicking off the Strawberry Festival musical line-up from 12:00 to 1:45 will be The SycoBilly’s, a talented trio who is hitting the local music scene like a ton of bricks! And from 2:15 to 6:00 the Oregon Valley Boys will be providing their own brand of Western Swing at The Main Entertainment Stage, located near the covered area in the park. All of the live music is family-friendly and free to everyone.
