Tiffany Partridge, City Council candidate for Ward 5, is passionate about connecting communities with city government and making sure the citizens of Ward 5 know their voices matter to her and the City Council.

Ward 5 is one of three contested races for Councilor in the upcoming election  set for May 17th. Incumbent Councilor Diana Dickey has decided not to run. Partridge, a newcomer to office, is facing another rookie, Matt Ausec, for the right to represent the city’s northernmost ward that extends beyond Chemawa Road and is bordered by Keizer on the west and reaches Cordon Road on the east.

Partridge was born in Lebanon and, except for some interludes in Texas and California, raised in Salem. She is a product of local schools. After high school she had a number of starter jobs – often more than one at a time. She began attending classes at Chemeketa Community College while working and earned an Associates Degree of Applied Science in Hospitality Management.

After Chemeketa, Partridge worked in customer service, as a marriage and event planner and as a restaurant manager. She also continued her education at Western Oregon University where she earned a BA in Political Science. She followed up with graduate school at Portland State and has completed  her class work for a MA. Upon completion of her thesis she will have a Masters in Political Science with an American Politics and Comparative Politics focus.

While at Chemeketa Tiffany had the opportunity to intern with Salem Travel, the local nonprofit which promotes tourism in the area. The internship led to a job as administrative assistant to the head of the organization. The experience gave her a view of downtown revitalization and how local businesses work with the City Council.

Partridge has also worked as a Volunteer Coordinator for U. S. Senator Jeff Merkley. In addition while at PSU she was a graduate assistant for Dr Richard Clucas. In 2014 she worked on the Democratic Party’s coordinated campaign efforts. She lists on her website endorsements from retiring Councilor Diana Dickey and State Representative Paul Evans along with those of the Oregon League of Conservation Voters and two local public employee unions. She states she is financing her campaign through family, friends endorsements and other Salem residents who believe in her.

Tiffany has lived in Ward 5 for nearly 9 years. She feels there are lots of opportunities for growth and revitalization in the ward. There are spots in need of up keeping, street lighting, new or repaired sidewalks to protect pedestrian safety. She is particularly concerned with more affordable housing and better transportation in the ward and throughout the city.

She lives with her partner Cliff along with cats Elliot and Grace. She spends time with family, including step daughters and their children, nieces and  nephews. In recent months her favorite movies include The Danish Girl and the latest Star Wars – quite a spread. She partakes in wine tasting and fine dining and, on her web site admits to enjoy baking.

Partridge is on Facebook and has a web site at tiffanypartridge.org. For her the campaign is underway.
