The secret that everyone is talking about is that Alessandro’s will be closing in the next few months.
Details are still under wraps, but what Roger Yost, the owner of the building and the restaurant, could confirm is that they are in the process of negotiating with another company, who will take over the restaurant.
“The building is not for sale. It’s time I got out of the restaurant business and I have a couple companies that are interested. [The restaurant] is doing fine but my plate is very, very full so we’re trying to lighten our load. We have about seven companies and sometimes that’s more than one can handle,” said Yost.
The rumor goes that Old Spaghetti Warehouse will be the new tenant, but Yost could only confirm that they are one of the potential tenants.
“I can’t say who the other one is at this point. It’s always a sensitive situation,” said Yost.
A phone call to Old Spaghetti Warehouse confirmed that it is in the early stages of moving, possibly in April and likely to a downtown location. Details are, of course, still secret.
Alessandro’s will be 35 years old in March and Yost believes that the restaurant will be open for its birthday, and likely a goodbye party.
Yost said, “We definitely plan to stay open at least until March 1st, if not later.”
